Do you have to tak the EGR tube off to remove the EGR from the intake? I know tube is metal.. my question is, can you just take the two bolts out of the EGR and gently bend the tube back to take off the intake manifold??

thanks

Yes, you can do it that way...but the pipe can corrode over time and you may end up snapping it off...but try it...gently...:)

I'd say leave the EGR in place and break the fitting loose using penetrating oil and a long 1 1/6 open end wrench. Lightly hit on the wrench to give a slight impact on the fitting counter clockwise. It will come off.

I tried that and didn't have much luck, i left well enough alone and forgot about it. The wrench was already starting to strip the nut lol. Maybe a torch?

If you started to round off the nut you were not taking your time and using light taps... Spray and come back to it as many times as needed. Also a lot of people turn the nut the wrong way...make sure you are turning counterclockwise. If you are trying test the EGR valve you dont have to take it off anyway. Why are you trying to take the EGR off?

I was doing it as part of preventative maintenance. I let it soak with pb blaster and I did light taps but not much room to fit the wrench. Anyways it is running fine just wanted to get ahead of a problem before it starts, figured i'd clean it is all.
