EGR advice?

I have a 1991 2.3 ranger with an the EGR tube that runs to the exhaust manifold. I recently bought a set of shorty headers off a mustang to replace my stock manifold, but I noticed it doesn't have the egr hook up, any advice on what I should do? I run 93 octane fuel all the time, so I am not sure pinging or knocking would be a big issue. Would it be ok to just plug the pipe or clamp on an air filter? I live in SC, no inspections here to worry about. Any help will be appreciated. Also, could I just use my stock manifold gasket for the header?:dntknw:

whether or not you have smog inspections in your area is moot....disabling emissions components is against FEDERAL law (eg. BIG FINE).

on top of that, your engines PCM is programmed to compensate for the EGRs input. so running your motor without it will cost you mileage and power (in lost spark advance).

having an EGR bung welded onto your new header would be your best bet (not to mention cheap and easy).

If your worried about emmisions laws get a bung welded in, but not running an EGR WILL NOT cost you power or fuel mileage. The EEC will recognize that the EGR is not present and completely disable the EGR function. (it wont retard timing). I know several people that also run regular octane w/o an EGR and have not experienced pinging.
