Hi,

Have'nt used my parking brake all winter due to the usual problems of brake cables freezing , brakes locking on etc.

It was working fine , but it will no longer hold , checked cables they move freely, parking pedal moves up and down freely to about half way down , so i guess it is still in adjustment, and will hold me if i keep my foot on it, but i don't hear the clicking of the ratchet any more on the pedal.

so my question is:
is there a ratchet style mechanism in the pedal assembley thats failed ,broken or in need of replacement?

or
do i need more tension on the brake cables to make it work?
Is it cable tension that makes it click?

With poor visibility under the dash , did'nt want to half that it apart and regret it.

Any help or advice would be gladly appreciated........Regards

I am having some simular trouble with my 92 2 wheel drive and I will assure you that there are no adjustments to be made on the e brake foot actuator!!! I spent most of a day removing the blasted thing and reinstalling. My pedal didn't want to return up the up position and I thought that there might be a spring in there that broke or something.....nothing in there to adjust that's for sure. Sorry I can't help more than that but thought I would speak up.
