Ebay etiquette question

Yeah, I guess I'll have to start specifying that in my auctions. I've never had an issue though, so it never crossed my mind. I still haven't heard anything from the guy, so I just sent ANOTHER email telling him he needs to let me know by tomorrow or else it's going to the next guy.

Thanks for your input guys!

the only problem with this is.. if he has say 2 weeks b/c of eBay's rules- then you're screwed if you don't wait that long b/c eBay can come after you about it.

But he has attempted many times to get into contact with him about the items... Would that not cancel out that since he shows no intent to pay and has been given a reasonable deadline. Not to mention if he says he has until a certain time, if he really wanted it he would at least explain why he hasnt payed yet.

This is just my opinion on how it SHOULD work... But alot of times things dont work out that way so you will have to see. I remember one time when for some reason my card was declined after i had "won" the item. But i contacted the seller and explained what happened and he moved on to the next buyer, so it worked out alright

I think if you win an ebay auction you should pay within 24-hours.

If you haven't paid in 72 hours it's because you bidded on an item and didn't have the money. Now that they won they're trying to come up with the cash.

That's BS. If you don't have the money to pay right away, don't bid.

Offer it to the next person.

I'm just saying it's a weekend.. Who knows what's going on in the guys life. Yeah, I don't agree with it. If I win an auction I'd pay right then.. All I'm trying to say is if eBay's rule is 2 weeks and he only waits 72 hours.. It doesn't matter what we think is right if eBay has a set or rules and he was not specific in his auction.

I'm not at all talking up for the buyer, I'd just hate to see it bite Shane in the ***

OK, I've attempted to contact this jackass on several occasions and he's not responding. I sent my final email this morning. I gave him the whole weekend as well, so he will have had five days to make a response by the time I offer it to the next bidder. Here's what I sent to him -

Dear Buyer,

I have received no response from any of the emails or the invoice that has been sent to you. I am left to assume you do not want the item you bid on and won. If I have not received a response from you by the end of the day, I will be left no choice than to offer the item to the next bidder. I feel I have been fair in my dealings with you. If you didn't want the item or didn't have the appropriate funds, common sense says you should not have been bidding on it. As stated above; if you want the item you bid on, I must hear from you by tonight or it will be sold to the next bidder. I will also be leaving feedback reflecting your handling of the issue.

Thanks You

.

open up an unpaid item dispute on his ass. then if he still dont pay send it to the next highest bidder

I buy alot on ebay and I believe you have 72 hrs to pay for any item you won. If he don`t pay within that time give it to the next highest bidder and flag his account that will get his attention.

You sent the invoice, then several follow up emails as welll as a final notice. That's good. Just be sure you are within the rules and guidlines eBay may have so the guy can't find a loophole to dispute.

File negative feedback on the person.

Relist the item and be very detailed on your payment expectations, leaving out any tone of frustration caused by the previous deadbeat.

When I buy, I am already logged in and just pay right then. At the very least this guy should be activly communicating with you. There can be a ton of excuses or valid reasons the guy is not responding, but you are not expected to be a mind reader.

I thought I'd come and update this. The original buyer did not contact me until The second buyer told me he wanted the carburetor. His story is that he was bidding from his phone and his phone's browser told him he had been outbid and did not win the item.

I don't have any experience with the internet phones, so I'm not sure how viable his story is. Either way, I sold it for the same price so I'm happy.

As always, thanks for the advice guys.
