I have an Eaton M90 Supercharger off of a 92 Thunderbird Supercoupe, do you guys think it would be worth it to fit it on my 4.0?

Anything can be done, lots of fabwork....

Someone here put one on a 2.3 if I remeber correctly, I think he went through and made the manifolds and everything

That was Anapaum. I don't think he ever got it to run right. He posted the other day with other problems. You could send a PM. IMO turbo's are easier. shady

Check ebay for the l;ower intake manifold kit and then you will have some fabing to do and then some tuning...

And you may need another job as well to help fund this project I heard it can get pricy.

But go for it. It is your truck and with everything setup right you will not regret it.

Check over on RPS, rangerpowersports.com. There's lot's of guys that use that supercharger but theres also quite a few that argue that it's more effiicient to use the M112 from a lightning.

Agreed... I haven't read many 'great' results with the M90 that make me think it's worth the effort. It's definitely cool... don't get me wrong. But for the time you'll spend doing it, you could do better from a performance standpoint.

Given that I HAVE supercharged my truck, I think I can contribute to the discussion . . .

The three biggest issues I've had relate to leaking air, the mass-air system and bracketry. Anyone who is skilled with fabricating can figure out how to put a blower on an engine, and the M 90 is easily adapted for that purpose. My trouble with brackets relates to the fact that I've got the supercharger sitting off to the side of the engine, and the torque tends to move things out of alignment over time. It's not that big a deal, really--it just requires periodic adjusting and maintenance.

Leaking air has been chronic and vexing! I think a turbo install would face similar issues, so no matter if you go the blower or the turbo route, don't go cheap on your tubing!

The mass-air system was able to handle the blower without an intercooler, but without the intercooler, I had unbelieveable part throttle detonation. With the intercooler, though, the mass air couldn't handle the lag between when the throttle cracked opn and when the air actually arrived in the engine. Dumping the mass air for a speed density system solved that problem.

I've pulled the blower off, though. With premium gas running over $1.50 per liter, it makes no sense to have boost when I'm consistently trying to keep my foot OUT of the throttle. Right now, any talk of performance over economy sounds a bit silly to me, but maybe some of you can afford the hot rodding.

A turbo for the 2.3 will certainly be easier because the factory engineers have already solved all the problems. If you install a blower, you're going where few have gone before, unless you swap a Supercoupe engine and fuel system directly.
