I'm looking to trim my fenders on my 1992 ranger, with about a 2 inch lift and I am trying to figure out the best way how to restore the crease/lip along the fender; I came across this tool:

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this tool, and if it would work in my situation.

If you didn't want to buy one for a one time use. I can put you in contact with a guy that rents his out.

having trimmed my fenders somewhat recently I don't think that tool would work. I rolled my fender edges with sheet metal pliers, you'll want a pair with 2" or less width to get a nice round edge. Go slow, about 45* all around then 90*. I don't have a good picture of what I did but I only modified the bottom corners of my fenders. After the pliers, I pulled out my cheapo Harbor Freight hammer and dolly set and smoothed things out. Also, on the trimming part, I would use an angle grinder with cut off wheel, it leaves a nice edge to work with

I was actually thinking about rolling the fender in first with an adjustable wrench and then use the wheel to even everything out. I was at harbor freight the other day and I was going to buy that exact dolly set you are talking about but I was kindove skeptical on how good it would come out.

How exatally did you use the dolly? Did you end up taking the fender off, or did you just hit upwards with the dolly on top of the lip?

you basically take the thin dolly (I used the D shaped one, it has a decent corner on it) and put it on the back side and hammer on the outside, basically just used it to take out the rough spots and make the corner square again.

An adjustable wrench would work, I think I had one of those in the mix too...

Sounds good, I am going to scrap the fender roller Idea and use the harbor freight dolly set with some sheetmetal pliers and open ended wrenches,
thanks for your help.

Btw did you heat up your fender with a heat gun before you started to bend?

no, it's just sheet metal, it's soft, the only thing heating might help would be the paint, it will crack and fall off...

Ok thanks, I'm going to use one just in case..
