Early Mountain Dew bottle

I love that bottle. If they had that now, it definitely would not have the same charm.

I have a bunch of old 7-up and pepsi bottles in my garage. Some are the larger glass bottles, some are regular size. Are those worth any money at all? I'm tired of seeing them, yet I hate to get rid of anything that could potentially be worth something.

HOLY CRAP.....you remember the early 70's.............just how old is ya????:icon_twisted:

46,I was pumping gas and checking oil at the ripe old age of 8 in 1972....lol.
I lived at that gas station.
I remember watching my dad pumping gas and noticed the outline of a snub nosed .38 in his back pocket...........I thought "Crap! Dads packing heat...":icon_rofl:
25 cents for a Dew in the bottle.

25 cents for a Dew in the bottle.

:icon_confused:Is that the purchase price or return price???

OPPS........I kinda dated myself there didn't I:icon_surprised:

The only thing its lacking is any kind of date (sell by, use/enjoy by) and a location. research shows its hit or miss on either. at the time it wasn't required to list the ingredients and there was no standard for shelf life/expiration date and so forth. It seems to be something that only a few certain regions/vendors required.

I did find a mountain dew bottle collectors club if you can believe it. weird part is its a premium club $35 for 3 months or $70 for a year. i simply emailed the leader with the pics and offered to contribute to his "name list" hoping that maybe he might respond with something indicating likely date/location manufactured, filled, or sold/vender, etc...

No response so far. Doesn't really matter though, even if he told me its worth $10,000 i have a nice place for it on my bookcase.

Nice find. That's in great shape too!

Its amazing anything in that garage was in any kind of recognizable condition. My grandpa was sort of a pack rat but my grandma made a rule that he kept it out of the house, the only other place was a 20x20' garage. when we started going through it it was jam packed full from wall to wall to wall to wall, from floor to ceiling. we slowly carved two pathways from the door to opposite corners and worked our way from there. you can now pull a full size truck, a riding mower, two four wheelers, and a trailer in with room to spare.

I bet if one came across a bottle of this era still sealed that could be worth something

My dad has one, no idea on the value of it though. My dad has collected bottles and whatnot his whole life, alot of cool stuff, I'll see if I can't get any pictures this weekend.

I remember when it came in those bottles...but I think mine had a nipple on it when I first saw it...
