valves and stuff
I have a link for the vales, but it is at home,
as far as E85 and standard engines are concerned... not a good combination... E85 requires a hardened seat and exhaust valve. standard magnetic valves will not work... too much iron, stellite is a cobalt chromium alloy that is face welded onto the exhaust valve and then "coined" in. It has excellent corrosion resistance. this alloy is nonmagnetic....
if you can pick up your exhaust valve with a magnet, it won't last over time.
yes it could be true that an incorrect fuel mixture, stoichiometrically speaking, can destroy and engine, I took into account the extra fuel needed. yes simply slapping in 19# injector is not a long term solution, but they are a necessary upgrade because the extra E85 needed to make the stoic is beyond the capabilities of 14# injectors. It's crude, but it works... for now.
I will definitely look into the pro racer package you mentioned. Haven't looked at it yet, but yes the fuel curve should be held in strict tolerances.
i ran this 3.0L on regular pump fuel and 19# injectors for a year and checked exhaust valves via disassembly... all good, then ran a 40% mixture of EtOH and 87/89 pump fuel till she finally let go.... again about a year....
the same burnt valve issues as before showed up again just recently.... the current and previous heads are/were 49cc non FFV heads.
I'm sticking with this stock engine that i just put in until spring cause i don't want to be out in the cold again..... I'll be making the mods that I mentioned in a previous post to the engine i just took out over the winter...
