Hi guys! I have a Flex-a-Lite 2500cfm single electric fan (puller) from one of the past vehicles lying around. Do you think that is enough to cool a stock 4.0L? Or do you think I need a pusher fan in front of the A/C condenser as well as the puller mentioned? My plastic mechanical fan is cracked and whistling with a little RPM. It will probably last another 21 years, but I have this other fan available, so......

I'm not saying that I would recommend my exact fan but I have a 14" electric fan that pushes or pulls 1,250 cfm (not including radiator and the ac). I live in 90+ degree weather most of the time and it stays around the "o" and "r" on the gauge inside of the truck even in heavy traffic, which is pretty good. However, I am going to change it out to get a bigger fan because it gets a little hot in low range 4x4. If I am creeping up a hill, it will eventually get to "L" on the gauge but nothing higher.

if your fan will last another 21 years, i wouldn't bother replacing it, unless you want to...

2,500 sounds like enough to me... slap her on and see what happens...

i agree.

the stock cooling is real good. i prefer e fans but for stock use and applications i would not mess with it unless it was failing.

I have no idea how much longer the mechanical fan will last; I'm just guesstimating. It has a few cracks that span from the center, along the side, and to the tips of a few blades. Since all of my past vehicles had metal fans, I have never come across this problem. I might install the puller fan and see what I get. I will keep the mechanical fan just in case I need to switch back.
