Has anyone ever put a center mounted e-brake handle in thier ranger? Just curious on how it's been done, if at all.

Would there be a down side to doing this? I've got 3 good reasons...
Makes up for only having 2 feet in rediculous off-road situations.
Adjustment on the front cable/ at the handle.
More options when I relocate the rear cables and mounts to work better with 9-10" of lift using the oem cables.

I've already pulled the handle from a Chebby Crapalier. I also know the floor board will have to be reinforced, and i plan to make a custom shorter front cable.

Any other opinions or info?

I was going to use the center console from a Tempo (since I had one handy) but didn't go through with it (yet)...it would work, but you may need to fab a bracket for the center point where the cables would meet...

I was considering this for similar reasons, but he main one would be to get the pedal out of the floor area by my feet...since I always catch my pant leg on the pedal...get pics if you can because I'm sure this would be a popular modification...

I actually did the floor mounted e-brake in my '94 F-150 Lightning and am doing it on my '91 Ranger V-8 swap. The Lightning has an '07 Mustang e-brake while the Ranger uses one from a mid 90's Range Rover. I'll post some pics when I can.

I love the conversion in the Lightning. When I swapped out the Auto for a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed the footwell got cramped and I wanted to lose the foot operated e-brake pedal, worked out great.

The Ranger came with a 5 speed so it was already cramped, especially being narrower than the Lightning so I had planned to do the floor mount unit from the beginning.
I have already removed the foot operated e-brake and installed the floor mounted brake. I haven't designed the cable/brackets yet but I'll post pics when I get the rest done. My Ranger is a 2wd, stock ride height so not sure my solution will work for you...
