<< DURN... tiny amount of coolant dripping from front "lip" of transmission...?

Are those loaners? WHERE from and WHAT are they called????
You can rent them im sure.

Just searched Amazon for freeze plug driver. There are a bunch.

They do make expandable plugs too. If you can get the room at a metal one... do it. If not...

What SIZE would that be? Are the head-plugs the same size as the block-plugs? (You'd hope, but ya never know with Big Auto...)

Typically smaller in the head. I'm not sure of the size though.

Oh SNAP!... just discovered that there's some freeze plugs on the backside of the lower block--i.e. gotta drop the trans to get them!:devilish:

From what I've seen the ones that rot out are the higher ones, like in the heads. Old engines not taken care of may have lower rad fluid, which let's air access the frost plug from the inside. That combine with h2o leads to pinholes. I would do the head plugs then see if the problem is fixed before yanking engine or transmission.

Shouldn't I eyeball a leak before I "do" ANY plugs?... :stop:🔎🔬

yep, 2 of them just below the heads. the big one is the rear cam cap, it would leak oil.
the small hex might be access to the oil, not sure.
you might be able to get mirrors or a bore scope in there, it won't be easy.

get/rent a pressure tester and pump the cooling system up to 16 lbs. wait and watch.
16 is normal operating pressure.
That would be handy to have operating PSI withOUT the heat!... to do list... paging Autozone...
