Dura-spark carb problems....

Go for it! Rebuild it and check the jet size.
Big JIm

Do you think it looks legit.

If it was rebuilt by pony carbs yea they do all the upgrades ar far as porting the plumbing inside it. If you buy it let us know what jets they had in a 289 I am guessing #46 or #48s. Those older 2100s had issues with dead spots.

Well then i think i am gonna go ahead and buy it

Got my dads Duraspark done today and runs like a champ. He didnt change out the jets, couldnt get them to pry loose, so hes running whatever the donar carb came with and he went to a mechanical fuel pump, for some reason he couldnt get the elecritc one to work, I wasnt there to help out with the set-up but oh well now. Has a bit of black smoke when you get on it but runs smooth and when you hit about 2500+ rpm, you can hear the noise of the engine coming from the carb and sounds great. Other then that runs smooth, didnt have to adjust the idle screws, left them the way they were when we got the carb. Other then a hair of fine tuning, its good to go and hope to tell what the MPG's are from it. Only thing we dont have hooked up is the electric choke but no biggy at the moment.

Now you finally got it running good do the seafoam treatment. I found manifold vacuum for the dizzy works best just plug the ports on the carb disconnet and plug the vacuum to the dizzy and set it at 10 dbtdc. If the idle air screws are not capped go ahead and adjust them turn them out 1 1/2 from the lightly seated position. Warm the engine up then turn the screws out for the highest rpm or vacuum one at a time then check that they are within 1/2 turn between them. The black smoke could be valve guide seals if it smokes when you start it after sitting for about 10 minutes oil is dripping down the valve guides to the cylinders but get the carb dialed in first and timed correct and make sure the choke is all the way open when adjusting the carb and the choke preheater fitting is plugged.
