Duplicolor Engine Enamel

You can use anything on an engine, it doesn't get hot enough to actually burn the paint off. I've always used regular car paint (urathane) with absolutely zero problems. I would suggest a good etching primer and a sealer, but I have seen dozens of engines painted with engine enamel with no sealers hold up for years of racing.

Thanks for that info.

Manifolds/headers do obviously, the engines themselves do not though.

Right you are Ranger4x4, got some VHT header paint with ceramics for headers, if that burns off then I will send them for ceramic coating later on, thanks for the input.

Well I didn't get the answer I originally started this thread over but have gotten some great advice on prep and paint for this project, thank you I appreciate the info and will be putting it to good use, think I will go with the urethane suggestion, seen some 2 part urethane in rattle can form on the shelf of the local Safeway auto parts dealer, and it's the right color.
