ok, so i have some pretty basic questions but i couldnt find them anywhere else so i guess il just ask them.

i got a 3" body lift kit (yes i know they suck, but im broke teenager and need a quick excuse for some bigger tires), and i was really excited to put it on until i made a big mistake, i read the warning on the box :shok:. so my first question is this: are the steering dangers associated with rolling and tilt really as dramatic as they make them seem? and also, im probably going to get a 3 or 4" suspension lift in the spring when i can scrape together more cash, but i thought twice when the warning told me that "under no circumstances should you combine body, suspension, or any other lifts." is that true? cause i thought it was pretty typical to run body and suspension lifts on the same rig.

thanks in advance

It is very common to run a suspension lift with a body lift.

The warning is harsh because there are people who don't have enough common sense to realize that they have a lifted truck and not a sports car.

If you have common sense about your truck, then you will be fine.

It's all about lawyers and protecting the idiots from themselves.

The only dumb questions are the ones never asked. :)

I would think it would be okay, just don't take turns too fast.

forget it all, buy big tires and cut you fenders! you will be safer that way! kidding, well mostly. body lifts and suspension lifts are both ways of lifting your truck, they give you a "warning" because eventually it does become a serious hazard but in all reality we are talking 10 or more total inches of lift and a retard behind the wheel. just keep in mind if you do any off-road adventuring that a suspension lift is hard on CV joints and can cause pre mature failure. just be safe and be an informed consumer, dont go jacking your truck 14 inches higher than stock with a 6 inch body lift, 8 inch suspension lift and drive the thing like a vette.

alright cool. i figured it was mostly for liability, but iv never drove a lifted truck and i was just making sure. i dont think il ever want more than 6 or 7" total, and i like to think i drive pretty safe. well thanks guys, il post some pics when its done, hopefully weekend after next, because im pretty busy this weekend

Hey, I have nothing against body lifts if they are done for thought out reasons.

If for example you just need a bit of additional tire clearance for slightly larger tires....
but aren't doing anything "Extreem"

On my own truck I made my own body lift (washers welded to pipe integrated
in the process of making my own steel parts to use urethane body mount bushings)

But my body lift is a whopping 1-1/8"... and was done almost entirely for
"wrench clearance" or "hand clearance" to make certain repair/maintainance
jobs easier, as I will likely never run tires larger than 235/75-15's

I'm also going with the tallest factory blocks in the back and a 1/2" "spacer"
lift in the front

I believe an unloaded pickup truck should have SOME "Rake"
and I go a little past that because I want the truck to look
slightly higher than "level" when loaded simply to sabe discussions
with certain unhumorous people that drive vehicles equipped with
flashing lights and sirens.

If you look "overloaded" you will get to meet those people
If you do not LOOK overloaded you won't.

Ahh the art of Deception...

Just as long as we are staying within reason on this loaded vehicle, right Allan? :D
