Well, when my 1984 Ranger was in its prime my grandparents still owned it until 1997 when it became mine. Just dug up some old pictures from a few that my grandparents took of the old Ranger and the 16' Nomad Travel Trailer they towed all over the country. Wish I still had that truck :(.

When I sold the Ranger in 2002 it still washed an waxed up nice and the paint would still shine like brand new. Other than the standard cracked dash the interior was still in excellent condition. Got rid of it because of the computer and carb issues it had, then of course found this forum 2 years ago :bawling:. If only I would have known in 2002 about the easy duraspark conversion I'd still have that Ranger.

Your grandpa was the Marlboro Man!!! And that's really cool. I love seeing pictures that bring on the wave of nostalgia.

Don't cry over spilt milk. I sold my 89 Mustang 5.0 for $2400 and there was a horrible clunking noise I thought meant the end of it. The new owner sent me an email a week later saying I forgot to tighten down the caliper mount bolts.

I would have never sold it.

LOL, my grandfather and grandmother never smoked or drank, funny though on the Marlboro Man reference.

I think I've seen my Ranger running around town again though, haven't got close enough to it to see for sure, its easy to recognize if the previous owner didn't fix the damage from removing the camper shell that had been installed the day after the truck was bought brand new in 1984 and the shell was removed 2 days after I sold it in 2002, it had never been removed before, and apparently had grown quite attached to the truck, it took the paint off the bed rails :icon_rofl:.

Go find that truck and buy it back.

Yeah, it was actually pretty rare. It came from Suburban Ford and it was the only Ranger on the lot that was the only one with an automatic transmission. The dual fuel tanks was great for traveling for sure. Also, it was back when gas was affordable when about $25-30 filled both tanks. Sure can't do that now, $30 don't even fill one tank LOL.

That camper shell is pretty rare in today's camper shell days as well. It didn't have a window in the front of the shell, it was completely open, it had a urethane boot between the truck cab and shell and was completely water tight that camper shell never leaked. It also had a bit of a urethane side skirt not just weather stripping under the shell between the shell base and truck bed, this seal went slightly down the side of the bed rails as well giving it a completely water tight shell. I believe it was a Century camper shell but can't remember its been too long. Also, the truck bed itself had a carpet in it that grandpa got at a flee market for $5 just cut it to fit. That carpet made long distance travel with the slider window of the truck open and very little road noise that way. That truck bed had absolutely no scratches in it, yep I gave away (sold for $700) a mint condition 1984 Ford Ranger :bawling:.
