Dude....

You know that probably 99% of these trucks are never going see anything more extreme than a gravel road.

i do agree with you there. it is going to be all the idiots who buy them and then use them as mall crawlers. as soon as ford puts in the 6.2, then i will want one. but not until then.

sinse when did we start competing with Japan?
When? September 5, 2006

Who is responsible? Alan Mulally

Why? So Ford can compete with Japanese auto makers.

Has it worked? Yes, Alan Mulally is the reason Ford Mo Co is the only US auto maker who hasn't accepted billions of $ in gov't bail out money to keep its plants running, in addition to reducing Ford's debt by +30% in the last month. Also, Mulally's benchmarking of Toyota has lead to Consumer reports recommending 71% of Ford's vehicles, compared to 21% of GM's and 0% of Chrysler's.

That is what Ford is doing that the others aren't. Recognizing that Toyota and Nissan (to a lesser extent) are owning the show. Ford is chasing them down and, while it may not happen, Ford is building much better stuff than they did. GM and Chrysler still build crap for the most part. They have an occasional hit, Chrysler has the Liberty which is a pretty darn solid little truck even if it is ugly and GM has........ok, Chrysler has an occasional hit.

Ford has to build a Ranger version !!

I like it except for the stupid tar splash graphics. They should remove those and it would look much better.

It will be interresting to see how the new 6.2 Boss/Hurricane V8 performs. Rumors on other forums indicate Ford is going to drop the 6.8 V10 in F250-F550 in favor of the 6.2:bawling: I hope it is only a rumor.

That wouldn't be so bad. The plow/errand truck at the dealership was a V-10 F250. What a slug that was.

They develop near diesel performance and last a hell of a lot longer than most diesels ford is currently using (6.0 and 6.4). Not to mention they cost about $6000 less to purchase. Most people I know who own a V10 swears by them. Last fall I rented a 17' Uhaul with a V10. It had no problem running 80 on the interstate with the bed fully loaded and still had power to spare. They aren't the best on gas, but if mileage is your concern, why would you buy it? :icon_rofl:
