Does any oil sit in the front sump of the double hump pan? I am thinking of modifying my dipstick to leave it in the front of the motor (old 302) if there is any oil in the front sump to measure....thoughts???

Not really, that front sump is needed to clear the oil pump itself. Of course oil gets there from splashing and jamming on the brakes but I wouldn't try to use it to measure the oil level.

If you have one of the old blocks with out the rear dip-stick hole in the block, I think that Ford Racing still has the double hump pans with the dip-stick hole in the pan. I know I have one laying out in the mess of a garage.

Yes the FRPP pan has the dipstick in the pan. You will have to plug the one on the timing cover, there is nothing you can measure from the front sump.

thanks.......I think I'll weld my dipstick into the side of the pan....which location is the best???the driver's side??

If you are doing a custom mount/dipstick I would say the pass. side. That would be one less thing in the way around the steering shaft.
