Hey guys,

I am currently running dual batteries, my problem is, it was done before i got the truck and i'm not sure which way it's been hooked up!!

Therefore i'm looking into buy a Painless Kit #40102.

My problem is after reading the instructions i would like to make a few modifications (let me know if you think it's an appropriate idea)

Three options to choose:

1st: Main battery is used only (solenoid not activated) :icon_thumby:
2nd: Main and auxiliary battery are connected for charging and starting (only when the key is in the on position) :icon_thumby:
3rd: Main AND auxiliary battery are connected together at all times regardless of ignition switch position :not_i:

the 3rd one i just don't get!!! Me personally i would think that i would want only the auxiliary battery at this time (therefore i can run it right down and have the main one to fire up my truck) does this seem wrong to any of you guys???? if so would it be relatively stright forward to change this??? if anybody knows this kit and could let me know which wires need to be changed!! that would be great!!!

Thanks Guys

Why not just get a PowerMaster battery isolator and be done with it? The battery isolators allow power to be pulled from both batteries, but will not run the primary battery dead. It keeps the primary battery for starting.

Just an idea. That is what I have for future install in the BII and have used before.

Wiring is easy. Just run an alternator wire to the center lug, and then run a feeder wire to each battery +.

i got no feedback on this but do you have pics of your 94? it looks good in your avitar.

Just a learner question, after looking through the instructions for it, does this system have a swicth to able me to run the auxiliary battery with no key in the ignition of the truck??? this feature is really the only reason i would go with the painless Kit (if i can seporate the main battery) (camper, laptop, tv, etc)

No switch, you would still need the key to be on unless you have those accessories you want to be ran without the key on powered from the secondary battery and not tapped into the trucks ignition circuit wiring.
