While surfing the tech library i came across this picture of a 2.9L in a RBV that has dual Altenators.

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/K_N_airfilter.html

Now i have an alt kicking around out of a 95 E-350 with a 7.5L that i would like to put in my ranger but have questions that need answering before i can begin.

1: Crank pulley only supports two v belts while water pump pulley will support three v belts. considering the fact that i have removed the OEM fan assembly in favor of an electric unit, will i need to change my crank pulley to a three groove, and run the second alt belt around crank and water pump pulley's, or is it possible (or recommended) to drive direct from water pump pulley to second alt?

2: On the back of the "new" alt, (integral regulator) it has a 3-wire plug from the regulator, a 1-wire plug which appears to connect to the stator windings, and a positive lug.
Now, from what i have found the wires are run as follows:

3-Wire
Lt Green / Red: Voltage reg to charge indicator lamp (or voltmeter?)
Yellow / White: Power dist box to the voltage regulator
White / Black: Connects to stator coil white/black??

1-Wire
White / Black: Connects to white/black as above??

Is any of the above correct?

Can anyone think of problems / solutions i have not thought of?

I mean, I don't know about all those wires but with the oil spill and Isrealis hijacking ships in the golf--it's definately time to start doing these hybred things. You hook up another alternator, especially one out of a big 350 and then you can run that free energy right back into the engine and stuff. That's awesome.

it appears that it is a gm alternator located where the factory ac would be. a gm alt would be easier to set up
