Hey everyone! I'm sure this has been covered before so if it has, I can just get a link. But I'm putting a 4.0l from a 1992 explorer xlt automatic into a 1985 ranger that had a 2.3l with a 5 speed. My question is what all do I need from a donor vehicle? I've got the wiring harness and computer from a 1991 ranger 5 speed. What tranny will I need if I want to go standard shift? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I already know that it's going to be costly and time consuming. Just looking for tips. Thanks fellas

You need an M5OD out of a vehicle that had a 2.9 or a 4.0.

Best bet is a 5-speed Explorer.

Thanks for the help. Will that mount to the drive shaft and rear end thats already on the ranger? Or will I need to upsize it? Also. How will that work switching the truck into 4x4? The 85 has the shift job while the 92 has the push button. Will I have to get a transfer case for that year
