Hey guys, i am building this 88' ranger as some of you know that i bought and the previus owner took many shortcuts.. such as using lift coils from an older straight axle ford and such...well now im to the steering and it has about 8" of lift and the drop pitman arm i long enough but it dosent snug up to the steering box...the splines look like the splines on the steering box but they are a tad big and fit loose onto the steering box no matter how tightly u tighten the pitman arm bolt...it has a bunch of play in it when you turn the wheel..it will still turn just is sloppy since the arm has play...is it possible he used a drop pitman arm from a fullsize ford? maybe the one he got the lift coils from? what the best thing i could do that is the most inexpensive since i know the extreme drop arms from skyjacker are around $200...

fullsize ford/bronco uses the same drop pitman arm. I know my first skyjacker one was listed for fullsize f150/bronco.

hmm thats weird...im thinking it may be one from an old straight axle ford..may be bigger? the splines on the pitman arm look like they should fit perfectly on the steering box same pattern...just to big..its hard to explain

Maybe an arm from a later Superduty (F-250/350) Ford?

Whatever the case, it obviously doesn't fit correctly so I wouldn't try to drive it like that or you'll ruin your sector shaft. Get the bigger SJ arm for it.
