Driveshaft rubbing gas tank bracket.

I recently put overload leaf springs into my 90 ranger 4x4.

I took out the stock lift blocks since the overload springs added about five inches but since taking out the blocks my driveshaft is rubbing against the brackets around the gas tank.

Does anyone know the easiest way to fix this?

Either get a thinner driveshaft or put an inch lift block back in there...I know the 2 piece drive shafts are a bit thinner than the one piece...that might give you enough clearance...

Brackets? Do you mean tank straps or do you mean tank skid plate? You can trim off an inch or so from your skid plate. I agree with Mark_88 about the 2-piece driveshaft being skinnier for more clearance. See photos of that here: http://imgur.com/a/BL7mz

Nice writeup Cvar...:icon_thumby: I like how you showed the socket size without actually having to explain what one to use!

I've been thinking about going to a one piece driveshaft also, but not concerned about clearance so much as finding one that fits the length and matches the 3.0 transmission. I would imagine that any extended cab Ranger with the 3.0 will fit perfectly if my driveshaft doesn't work from the 2.3.

I'm fairly sure that the length of the driveshaft is dependent only on transmission (FM145 or Everything else) and the axles in the truck.

Whether it's a 2x4 or 4x4 matters a bit too Senor :D But yeah, you're pretty much right there from my understanding.

Thanks, Mark! The overall length of mine was 62-3/8", incl. flanges. Have you measured yours?
