My '90 b2 has a double cardan driveshaft. It has the 2.9 and 5speed man.(fm146) I found a '90 ext cab ranger at the junkyard with a 2.9 and auto trans. Will the driveshaft from the ranger bolt right into my b2?
:icon_confused:

no, the ranger shaft is too long.

why do you want to get rid of your double cardan? those are what people *want*

I keep hearing a vibration from the rear of the vehicle. I assumed it might be the u-joints getting old. If it fit I was going to snatch it up since things disappear fast at the junkyard near here. Thanks for the help!!!

you'll pay less for a set of 3 joints that you will for a good shaft, even from the yard.

i too would just replace the joints, that way you know how old the joints are, how often they will see grease, and you know the shaft will fit (youre using the same one you took off). if you arent able to do the labor yourself expect to pay some one $100-150 to replace the joints, plus the cost of the parts. youd be looking at $125 for the 3 ujoints and the ball and centering yoke kit.

Anyone got a part number for the u joints? Got a 90 B2 with 2.9, auto. Shaft has u joint at each end, not double cardan or cv. Nobody can find a number. Parts books don't even show it, faded out like the gas filler hose(obsolete) lol. I can find a replacement shaft for $260 but that's a bit excessive for a $15 fix.

go to the tech library and measure your u-joints to ID them then you can go with a part number
