im gettin ready to put the new rear end in the truck and after that ill be dropping the 302 and aod in. its a nine inch with 3.73s. will i be able to use my original driveshaft?

probably not without some modification to it, either in length or by switching yokes around or whatnot to slide in or bolt on to your tans and rear diff.

Sorry to say but probably not. Once everything is in, pull out the tape measure. To modify yours isn't that expensive.

about how much do you think that could cost

If you are worring about the driveshaft cost, don't even think of a v8 conversion because it is very expensive or at least mine has been..Mike

..... i think ive spent maybe 30 dollars total. no kidding. ive managed to trade stuff ive already had for everything ive needed so far...

Count on modifing the rear connection and most likely the length. There are about ten different rear yoke versions for the nine inch. Might run $50-100 to have the length corrected and then balanced.

i just payed 120 to have a new yoke welded on the front of my 2-piece unit. and have it shortened.

the it was another 80 to have it spin balanced.

but new york prices are always more expensive

thats not bad at all. i just heard it could be anywhere from 1 to 500 depending on what i wanted.

add to that another 30 in ujoints and i payed like 230 for everything.

its not bad, but i thought when they shortened the shaft, for 120.00 that included a spin balance. but oh well.

yeah thats not bad at all.

I only came in with a measurement from the rear flange to the seal on the tail of the trans, and paid $280 for a brand new shaft. My yoke from the A4LD was way too small for the AOD (90 Super Coupe) and also worlds too short (long bed).

psychopete, thats not bad at all. i would have paid that, but mine was a 2-piece, so it wouldnt have been that cheap. lol

I paid 160 to have my driveshaft lengthened with new u joints and paid 85 to have one shortened and new u jounts...
