Driveshaft question

Do all Ranger driveshafts have slip yokes? I have a little bit of that slip yoke "clunk" and was wondering if I could eliminate it by getting a different driveshaft with no slip yoke.
 
Yeah, I already knew about greasing it, I just thought eliminating it altogether would be a more permanent solution. I guess I have no choice but to grease it. Thanks
 
Check into a 1 piece driveshaft. I don't believe they have a slip yoke. Mine is 1 piece.
 
All drive shafts (not just Rangers) have slip yokes. You have to have one. If there isn't one things break when the rear suspension flexes.

Bum's appears to not have one because his truck is 2wd. His yoke goes right into the trans and can't be seen from the outside.

That's what I was thinking, but then again, they make slip yoke eliminator kits for Jeeps and stuff so....how does that work?:dunno:
 
My friend just bought a slip yoke eliminator kit for the front end on his Jeep. It eliminates the yoke going into the T-Case and converts it to a flange. But his driveshaft will still have a slip yoke. His factory driveshaft has a slip yoke on the shaft as well..... IIRC there was a Zerk fitting on it even.

Off subject but he bought it with a Tuff Country 3.5" lift on it. What a POS. That thing is so noisy going down the road. He's changing it to a 6.5" long arm lift by Rusty's.
