This may come off as a dumb question. I bought the dana style drive shaft from bronco grave yard, does it matter which way I bolt it up to the flanges?

Slip yoke should be closer to the trans.

It isn't likely to kill anything if it goes in backwards, but they usually put them in that way.

I though the slip went in closer, but ive seen them installed both ways. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks yall!!!

Sizing the driveshaft is real important you want the yolk/splines to be about 1/3 out from fully depressed. most of the travel will be out. There is a formula depending on lift you want it almost fully depressed with the axle up to the frame. A good driveshaft shop will be able to tell you if the slip yolk is suitable there are basically three measurements. On level ground measure the height from the ground to both flanges transfer/tranny and rear axle, distance between the two flanges. You dont want the slip yolk to stop moving in either direction serious damage can occur tranny or pinion or both.

The suspension on my B2 is all stock. I had the rob that old birdcage style off of it to put on my 2wd B2 that I was selling. In return I ordered the dana style for the 4wd B2. No lift yet, maybe in the spring. I'm still shopping around for it. Once a lift is in my garage, I'm going to do the explorer shaft. Shop right down the road can measure, cut, and balance it maybe for a case of suds!?! There isn't a lot of things I can't get done seeing how Mexico is my back yard.
