Hi everyone! I keep reading guys over here talk about things like, "I swapped out of axle with an explorer 8.8 size". I have asked certain time ago about how do you guys, even decipher such details from the door tag? Some of you said it's on the sticker on the door.

I don't know how to decode those digits on that tag.

Can someone pls help put me through what other important details you can get from my truck, such as the transmission type(it's an auto though..are there other things to learn from the transmission system), what axle type do I have or gear ratios?

Here's the info on the tag:

TRANS: T
AXLE: F6
TAPE: E
SPRINGS: E4C

What does all these means? Any datasheet or something I can check them out?

Thanks.

Trans: T indicates what transmission was installed from the factory.

On the for mentioned link you will find your axle tags, how to read them, and door jam sticker on how to decipher the axles. You have the F6 which means you have the 7.5 inch Limited slip differential with 3.73 gears with a max load capacity of 2750 lbs.

Tape: E indicates the color and style of pinstripe package installed from the factory

Springs: E4C indicates the spring package used. These numbers and or letters indicate how many leaves and what the spring rate for them are.

In this next link you will find the cipher for your tag.

Thanks so much. Please I do consider to do a 5.0l swap someday, do I need to swap out my current axle setup: 8.8" limited slip differential 3.73 gear with something else?

A limited slip 3.73 should work great behind a 5.0 as long as you use a transmission with overdrive or don't do a lot of high speed driving. Without overdrive 60 mph would probably be your max cruising speed.
