so i swaped a 2000 2.5l ford ranger motor into my 96 for ranger. along with the trans. and rear end,and aluminum drive shaft. but when i did this i forgot to mark the drive shaft to the rear end and now about at 75mph i get some shake. i had it balanced but the i had to take the drive shaft off and it got put back in different. So my question is how do you know were to put the drive shaft and know it balance? with out having to mark it and unbolt it and try it. i dont want to keep testing it i want to know that it balanced. Also anybody that swaped a aluminum drive shaft ever had problems with clearance. when i moved and my truck was load down with all my shit. if i hit a bump it would rub on the top on the body. how would i fix this. i know where its hitting should i just grind a notch in under body? :icon_confused:

uh... no. No, I don't know; I haven't had this issue, even though I've swapped driveshafts and rear ends (in other vehicles) and operated them at triple-digit speeds afterwards.

We run a aluminum driveshaft in the race truck and had the same problems. We took a radiator hose clamp and put it around the drive shaft and just moved it around til it was smooth. You might have to use a little bit of weight under it then epoxy it on when right. We cut a notch in the cross member for clearance,on a street truck you might want to gusset the side of the notch.
