I was wondering what to use for a drive shaft for my v-8 swap.i looking to put a 5.0l with a 5spd manual in my truck.donor car im currently looking for is a 1987-95.not sure if shaft from donor car would be perfect fit or my current drive shaft from my 2.3l trans would work.any help would be great.

The Mustang shaft probably won't fit. My 92 Mustang is much shorter than my 87 Supercab.

I'd take the front yoke from the Mustang trans down to a drive line shop, along with your measurements, and get one made.

So on my 90 ranger. I’m using a t5 from a 95 mustang. And the stock ranger driveshaft fit perfectly. No issues.

My truck is a regular cab short bed FYI

sweet!mines an 1987 shorty.pretty sure its the same drive shaft.good to know.all good info.thanx guys

1 last question 2 rangerfabworks.what did u use for a trans crossmember on your t5 or any mustang manaul 5.0 trans?did u have to make one up or did u modify the mustang one?

Old post I know.but your rangers yoke fit in your t5s tailshaft?my mustang yoke is bigger then my rangers.not sure if I can buy a bigger yoke that could fit my rangers stock drive shaft.what was your stock engine in your truck?4.0l?

my stock truck was a 2.3 and a m5odr1 2wd. And the t5 was from a 95 mustang with the 302. Yes my yoke slid right in no issues.

Is your truck lowered

Is your truck lowered?did u have to do anything with the pinion angle at all?

I had to get one made for my 90 single cab regular bed.

I used 1650 series u joints for more strength. Not necessarily needed but I plan on making alot mor power at some point.

You couldn't get your stock drive shaft to work?

Mine stock one is real close.maybe an inch to long but I haven't cut hole in floor yet or bolted anything to it's permanent spot either.it ll be close that's for sure.need to replace slip yoke also to change it to 28 spline since mine is 25.

no I’m at the stock height. And nope. Pinion angle was left alone. No issues.
does your t5 shifter seem to lean to the driverside or does it sit level with your floor?mine seems to lean towards the driverside.not sure if that's normal or not?
