Alright so the other day I noticed my front drive shaft cv joint was spiting grease everywhere. I was in the process of replacing it today and notice that everything looks okay and nothing seems to be broken. The boot is intact and has no cracks or holes in it. The boot was sticking out of the flange when i took it off. Is it possible the boot could have just slipped out of the flange? Trying to avoid spending $130 on a new joint.
Thanks

NOTE: It only started spiting grease after the transmission was replaced. They had to remove the drive shaft to replace the transmission. Could they have re-installed it wrong?

Vehicle is a 99 Ranger 4.0L automatic with auto hubs

Sure could have.

Slap it full of grease and reinstall the boot.

If it hasn't been "dry" for long, it should be fine.

Thanks man. I figured this would be the answer. It hasn't been dry at all still some grease left on it. Is there a certain type of grease I need or will any do?
