I have looked on a number of Sites for a How-To to fix my problem, which it that my side windows are cranking up with the front of the window lower than the back and creating an air leak that tends to whistle and drives me crazy.

Has anyone ever fixed the problem ?

Has anyone ever seem a Ford Fix-it Kit ?

Thanks for reading this posting and I hope someone will have a fix !

Have a look here at the parts involved: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fr/full.aspx?Page=19

The glass is attached to the center slider channel at two places, could be the front washer is loose allowing the glass to shift lower in the front when cranking window up
Or center channel is loose

The rear channel is adjustable, could be its allowing the glass to shift when cranking it up

Front channel is not very adjustable

And just a heads up, NEVER use any metal tools at/near the edge of tempered glass, it will shatter, as its suppose to do, lol.

I've had the panels off to fix/ replace the motors on both doors of my truck. I honestly have to say, the track arrangement is really hokey!

I think (I don't know actually) , the "X" bracket mechanism from the Explorer doors may work.

Thanks for the replies !

RonD, I was hoping you might pop in !
I was hoping for a fix before I take the door apart and at least from what I am reading it looks like it might be just an adjustment.

One more thing, "Do you know if the Power Window Tracks are the same as a Manual Window Tracks ?

I'm asking a little ahead of time, I getting ready to make the Manual/Electric Window change and just wanted a heads-up !
Thx

D93, Never thought of the Explorer Window parts, wonder if anyone has used them.
Thx

Don't forget if you go to power windows you'll need the door panels also, the tracks are really just tracks the lifting mechanism is on the bottom of the glass and either the crank by hand or motor lift it. When you look for replacement racks on warehouses you'll see the Explorer lift mechanism comes up as a fit for ranger which makes me say I think it would work.

D93, Thx...
I have both doors from a 2002 Single Cab, all powered, in fact the doors aren't in bad condition !
I should have taken the whole harness but I only took about two feet of harness beyond the door, maybe a less.
I was going to follow the "Power Window Conversion Using OEM Parts" How-To, it's a good read and seems to be easy to follow along and perform the necessary wiring mods.
Time will tell, just wanted a head start and what to expect.
Thx

If you don't care about "one touch down" or auto up and down, then you really just need 20amp fused power to both doors

Good ground for drivers door
And 2 wires from drivers door to passenger door

You can use key on power or full time power, up to you, it can't drain the battery unless you use the windows alot when you not in the vehicle, lol.

In 2002 there should be a Light Blue/black stripe wire coming out of each door, that's for the 12volt fused power

Then a White/yellow stripe and Tan/light blue stripe wire coming out of each door, hook these together, white to white tan to tan

Then a Black wire coming out of drivers door, ground it in the kick panel, its the ground for BOTH doors

And thats it

Ron D, thanks !

One Touch down would be good to have !

I was only going to use that How-To I mentioned and then use the Auto Up-Down Write-up ( I have three of the necessary modules for auto up-down !

I assumed it was going to take me a while to get the wiring done.

Just waiting for a little warmer days.
