Door Lock Actuator

I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my driver's side door lock. When I hit the keyless entry button the passenger side will unlock, but the drivers side will not. The door lock seems to jump up just a little when the button is pushed, but it does not stay up and the door does not unlock.

I can hear the actuator work, but it almost seems as if it's not strong enough.

I can put the key in the door and unlock it from the outside just fine. The lock will move up and down as it should, but only when the key is used.

So, is my actuator faulty? If so, what is the procedure for replacing it?

Love this forum and thank you in advance.

Replace the actuator. I have seen this problem quite a bit. I believe what has happened is the gears in side are stripped ou, but thats just a guess. I haven't taken one apart yet.

Cool. Do I need a special tool to remove and install a new actuator?

Do I need a rivet gun/tool to reinstall the new actuator?

IIRC you can bolt them back in, it not you should be able to buy a rivet gun for cheap, or borrow one from a friend.
