Both doors on my '89 rattle on bumps. They're shut all the way (two clicks) but even after the 2nd click I can still push/pull them shut about another half inch or so. I looked at the latch from the outside. There doesn't appear to be slotted holes for adjustment. Is there any way to fix this? I can ignore it but it drives my girlfriend nuts.

You should be able to move the little post the door latches onto. On my first gen i need a massive torx bit to loosen it.

what condition are the door seals in?

Yeah, The latches may be worn, the door seals may be worn as well. I'd start by getting new door seals, and then adjust the strikers inward a bit.

Door seals are intact. Doors close flush with body, but I can push them inwards and get them to go another 1/4 inch. This causes rattling sometimes, especially at home when I'm taking a short-cut through the lawn.

I'll see about adjusting the strikers. Thanks.

are the strikers still covered on the nylon anti rattle spacer tube thing?

that'll do it, go to the "Help!" section at your favorite auto store and get replacements

Just get a louder stereo to mask it over with. asdm08 can advise you on a good install.:D

I don't have a super great stereo in any of my vehicles. The S-10 had a real nice factory system. The Escape does too.

I just got the CD player in my B2 today, still need to get the 9-band graphic EQ installed.

Anyone know how to do that?

I do know how to blow out speakers though. Insert Buck Cherry, Metallica, KISS, or Skynard. Turn volume up carefully until the speakers crackle just a bit. Slam volume to MAX. Listen to speakers blow up.

Dontcha just love the odor that comes along with blown speakers?

It's not that bad when they are a million years old like mine are.

The one I blew in my sister's car was bad though.

I'm eventually gonna do something with my crappy stock stereo. I don't want to dump all kinds of money into it because my rear sliding window doesn't latch. The glass slides right out of the black ends that used to have the plastic latching thing on it til my drunk friend broke it. (Same drunk guy who f'ed up my inside passenger door handle. I believe that was the day we were setting propane tanks up next to the bonfire and shooting them with 12 gauge slugs.)

Is it true the speaker wires go to BF Egypt and back before they eventually make it to the speakers??

Only in the rear. The front ones barely reach. On the Gen 1 at least. Can't say about the Gen 2 speaker in the door.

I replaced the door speakers in my '92 a couple weeks ago, and there wasn't a ton of extra wire....but still need to get my seat to move so I can check the rear speakers. I can see them when I flip the seat forward, it just doesn't slide....yet.......
