on my 88 it was just behind the glove box.

on the 89 I believe it's under the dash, almost directly under the middle...just a hair closer to the driver side.

Really? And I just snipped the wires on mine in the door jamb... That thing is do damn annoying. I would've disconnected that if I wasn't angry enough at it (and lazy enough) to look it up

they are super easy to get to on the 89-94 ones.. at least on the explorers

Not to thread jack, but will removing the door/key buzer disable any of the the truck? will everything operate normally, meaning dome light still tuns on with the door open? just a stupid Q? but interested in 86ing it. x2 their annoying.

yeah, everything works just fine, other than the buzzer.
just don't forget to turn your headlights off, you won't have that reminder anymore.
