My stock 2001 Ranger "4-door" has been giving me an occasional "Door Ajar" warning for my driver side door. It will alarm with dash light when turning right, and stop when turning left. In the beginning, it could usually be corrected by slamming door. Over time, it is getting worse, and now it occasionally activates the cab's interior light when the headlights are on. The door seems to shut solidly, so I suppose it is a sensor/switch going bad or at least out of adjustment.

Anyone familiar with this problem? Where is the sensor/switch, and how can I adjust it? Thanks,

Osito

i had the same issue i just spayed some dw40 on the strikers, and it went away after a day or 2

I've seen this with the 4 door trucks quite a bit. The lower latch on the second door likes to gum and seize somewhat and will not hold the door closed properly anymore. Usually cleaning and lubricating the bottom latches and making sure that both latches catch and hold the door properly usually works.
