98 Ranger Door ajar light stays on??? doors are closed. Also the dome light stays on I did check the cluste dimmer switch and it is not on. Any ideas as to the cause
Thanks

does yours have the xtra cab doors that open in the back because mine if they arent closed right will have the door ajar light come on when i go around a corner. so yours might not line up with the door switch

This is a common problem. Get a can of WD-40, open your driver door, and spray the hell out of the locking mechanism in the door. Open and close the door 4-5 times. Repeat again.

Do this for both doors, and it should be fixed.

Oh, good luck, and get back to us.

I had the same problem, I just took the latch out of the door and cleaned it up real good with penetrating lube.
I had to do it twice since I had the truck - once every couple years
So I know the feeling - it sucks to go out and find your truck wont start 'cause the darn dome light has been on for hours.

An old roommate of mine w/ a 93 XLT took out his dome glass and 3 bulbs. He was driving it this way for 4 years before I sprayed it and used my bulbs to show him. That was a funny day...
