Doomsday Preppers

Anybody think that when the Mayans made their calender a they figured that in a couple thousand years when it was getting close to running out they would make the time to update it for a few thousand more years??

No no its much more plausible that they knew the world would end. So you all should prepare for the world to end in a few months. Quit your jobs, give me all your stuff and just sit at home waiting for the end to come.

Maybe they just ran out of room, have you guys seen it?

Looks busy to me LOL.

Troy.

Wow! The pandemic lady is a fricken nut case!

Nothing like making your daughter-in-law sit behind plastic while the rest of the family eats dinner on national TV.

The family looks so miserable.

Hmmm, I've never seen this this before but I have an issue; It's a circle, and circles don't end...

I think the show is really interesting. And I am learning a few things from the shows. We already have a garden here at the house, and I hunt every fall with bow, muzzleloader, and modern rifles and shotguns. The handguns are for backup. I like the bus idea, but I've got too many projects to get done already.

But it's a bummer because it's a little vague on specifics like how to can, or how to make the windmill generator.

food network and science channel are your friends, or you could just google it.

thinking preperation is never a bad thing but with that said maybe these people take it to the extreme. Do like the episode that show one mans gun safe!

If you guys are interested in prep thats where to be. MOST of the people are sane individuals planning for natural disasters that require up to 1 month food supply. There are some nut jobs hording guns and ammo in underground bunkers and they think there will be some kind of massive collapse.

My question is.. if the USA collapsed you think the rest of the world would just let it fall into lawlessnes? No.

FYI US mortgage default rate right now is 9.1% Canadian for comparison is 0.01%

I have watched a few episodes. The general principle behind what they are doing is good; however, if someone wants what you have they will find a way to take it. I figure if I depend on my training and what I have learned from my father I should be good to go. You can only isolate yourself for so long before someone finds out where you are at. Being able to be self sustaining is key.

Also having enough ammo is key as well. I figure once I have about 9-10k rounds of ammo per each firearm I own should last me about 4 yrs.

I have been watching the show (have all of them on my computer) and it has really opened up my mind to the point tha I am becoming one now.

Only thing is, where to start? I do have my guns and building up ammo and what not for all of them and also learning more canning/jarring skills and basiclly taking in everything that I can and go from there.

I do hope what they say at the end of the shows that they hope poeple think they are crazy, I hope something doesnt happen, but seems like mankind takes everything for granite now a days, if something did happen, it wont be long before the sh!t does hit the fan.

Since my last post, I have been hired by a company taking interest in my past confined space, high angle rescue experience, as well as my class A CDL. So I'm a "rescue heroe" again. Oh, and HAZMAT as well. Anyhoo......
The OIL patch is very hard on you, your family, (incase you want to stay married) and much more dangerouse than it seems. I have plenty of friends to attest to that. A job is a job, depending on the quality of life you want now, and in the future.
KEEP IN MIND that the oil jobs are temporary. Once the wells are drilled, the layoffs begin. We've seen it here in OK many times, and it continues it's cycle. If your working it, or thinking about it, save everything you can, to buy time to your net job. Guys, the economy isn't getting better like the news says. Think about it, EDUCATE yourself, and make the best decisions you can for the future.
You're a grown ass man. Act like it.

technically speaking, its like September of 2013 if you take away daylight savings, so we are already past the 2012 think, and I do believe you can survive with a stash. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere, Im safe =) no floods, tornados, tomatoes or landslides can get me!!!! (or volcanoes or earthquakes). Thank god for living on the top of a steady and wooded hill!

You realize that daylight savings takes an hour and then gives it back a few months later, right? It doesn't take an hour twice a year...

This means that in a 365 day year, we have 363 days that are 24 hours long, 1 day that is 25 hours long, and 1 day that is 23 hours long, it all averages out to 24.000000000 hours per day

Now if you're talking about leap years, that is different
