Dome Light Stuck On No Matter Switch Position

I searched and read all of the threads about the switch on the door latch getting gunked up and sticking open, leading to the dome light staying on, and the WD40 fix for it. However, my dome light stays on no matter which of the three positions the switch on the light is in: Off/On/Door. Also, I get no erroneous "Door Ajar" warning. So this doesn't sound like the door latch switch issue ( I did spray them down w/ WD40 and try opening/closing the door a few times just in case, w/ no luck). I have verified that the dimmer switch is not all the way up.

So am I the one guy that actually has a bad switch on the dome light itself, or am I missing something else? It's a '97 standard cab, FWIW. Two bulbs.

The switch on the dome light itself is a "map lights" switch. It doesn't actually turn the light off (though if you finagle it a little, you can get one bulb at a time to go out).
With the door closed (light off), moving the switch from center is supposed to light one bulb or the other bulb.

If the light is always on with the door closed, then almost guaranteed it's the switch in the door that's faulty (only way for it to not, would be if someone modified the function of the switch on the light (such as to add an "off" position), and is no longer working correctly).

Ah, that makes more sense. I assumed the dome light switch was for On/Off/Door. I'll try the WD40 trick again. Thanks!

The WD40 won't always fix them. I will only help the switch that's sticking because of dirt. Sometimes the spring in the switch will break and WD40 won't fix that. You will just need a new door ajar switch.

If its 95 or newer..the switch is in the door latch and requires removal of the door plastic and tiny hands. its sticking straight off the bottom of the latch and requires about 90* rotation then it pops out like an old 1157 light bulb.

My local NAPA stocks them in "help" section for like $5
