Will there be any issues of me replacing the doors on my 92 Ranger with tube doors? ie. dome light? Will that still run and drain the battery? Thanks

Well, there's usually a little button on your truck cab that pushes in when the door closes to turn off the light. You could make it so that the tube doors make contact with this, or you could superglue it in. No clue as to if the super glue will work.

isnt there a button if you want the domelight to come on with the doors? or is this what koda is talkin about?

There is a little spring loaded switch on the door frame towards the from of the vehicle. You could superglue it in or cut an cap the wires. I believe the light goes off when the contact is broken in the switch by the door when it is shut.

I just cut mine and the light stays off. Just loose wires hangin.

take a small piece of muffler strap and 2 self tapping screws to hold it down. Sounds easy to me.

i just unskrewed mine and unplugged them, then tossed them in the glove box

On some newer vehicles the sensor they're talking about is inside the hinge (senses when the hinge is closed as opposed to the door itself) and can't be "stuck down". Not sure how you'd you deal with that but I thought I'd throw that in here..

the easy way is to pull the dome light fuse :clapping:

i did a toggle on mine (through the fuse box) so i can still use the light at night with a flick or a switch
work great:beer:

Which fuse is that on a 92? Is there a schematic in the Tech Library that I missed? And I don't have a manual for the Ranger

You could always go the extra step and disconnect the wire(s) that go to the switch, and connect them to a new toggle switch on/under the dash. Then, you'll be able to still use the dome light. I would imagine that just because you don't have doors, it doesn't mean you wouldn't want to keep the light's functionality.

take out the bulb.
