Doing work son.

I found out that my 84 Bronco 2 was actually bound for the scrap yard originally but the previous owner who I bought it from actually saved it and planned on restoring it but had major health issues arise so it had to go, so now I have it and plan on slowly getting it restored, except if I do so I definitely will keep it around.

It truly is sad the number of vehicles that are junked just because the owner doesn't want it, because they have too much money to just go buy a brand new car instead of keeping their old one and driving it and being money a head.

I watched a 1989 Jeep Cherokee get dropped into the crusher the last time I went to the recycling center. Sad thing was the only issue with that jeep was it needed a new chain in the transfer case, the recycling center had been driving it around as a yard vehicle for several years, but didn't want to bother with a $80 chain WTF.

The sad reality is though that every one that dies can keep many more on the road.

Something had to die to give my Ranger its engine, something else for the trans... without that it was just another 30 year old truck that was blowing oil out the dipstick and had a leaky A4LD... basically kept it out of the junkyard itself.

Not to mention all the other little parts that went into it as well. 4wd linkage, fan shroud, msc brackets, Explorer belt drive, rear axle, interior, grille, tailgate...

Probably a year ago I found a mint restored S-10 in u-pull-it, really pretty blue color. Took a hard hit in the front, sad because you could tell from a mile away it was somebody's baby.

I do hate to see old vehicles go away, mostly because I don't much like the new ones. If I were ever rich I think I would have a collection of cars like Jay Leno or the like, but they would all be old, dirty and beat up.

Awww so like you would have your own dog pound but with scruffy old unloved vehicles.:icon_thumby:

Yup, and the ones beyond saving get put down and donate their parts to keeping the others running. It does sound silly, but looking at my current fleet I think I am getting there already. ;missingteeth; Either that or they get turned into track cars.

People around me used to do just that then the government told them to cover it up or get rid of the neighborhood eyesore. More of the government sticking their nose where it dont belong.:dunno:

it is very sad. but depressing.
& ya we get red tagged all the time because of the 5 trucks we have in my yard plus the 3 derby cars. it just sucks ya know that you pay taxes & a morgage & you cant even keep what you want in YOUR yard. cause its an "eyesore" but to me its not so it shouldnt matter its MY yard.

Is that something like: You might be a redneck if your home is mobile and you have five cars that are not. :icon_twisted:

haha. i guess so. but no its cause the boyfriend buys trucks constintly all first gen dodges. he is building a Crew Cab Long box Dually from chasis up. & he parts out the rest. so we have alot. also i dont live in a mobile home haha a huge 4 room house. lol

A couple of my neighbors that speak English and have heard some Jeff Foxworthy rib me cause I have a couple non runners in the back yard too... And like you I live in a large older four bedroom home... But at least we can laugh about it.

Unfortunately, I have had to scrap some rangers, b2's and f150's to keep my junk alive. I buy, scavenge and sell.

This allows me to pick the good stuffand keep it and sell the mistreated stuff. I would never scrap something worth fixing .

& i like the way you think. if it runs & is worth fixing sell it for the right price dont junk it to make a quick few hundred bucks.

The only thing I complain about my neighbor's junk vehicles is when they moved into that house 7 years ago they hauled in a really nice 1970 Ford F-100, rather than covering it up they just dumped it off the trailer against the back fence left the hood in the bed of the truck leaving the engine exposed, the whole truck is literally just rusting away now. its sad because when they moved in the guy said all it needed was a new distributor and something on the transmission hooked back up. Figured he would get it running that spring, nope its just sat there for 7 years.

Personally its your property if you keep it somewhat cleaned up and organized, its your property so if you want to pile cars on it for projects go right a head, but at least try to keep them somewhat protected from the elements to preserve them not just let them turn into a pile of rust.

It is your property... but it does effect the resale value of your neighbors. Not everybody wants to live next to a junkyard.

That said I have enough room to do whatever I like and my neighbors can't even see my house, all my stuff that was intended to move itself can move itself though. Two trucks, three tractors, one lawn mower and a dirt bike :D

Thats just depressing. & well in my county it has to be on gravel or driveway & if plates are expired it has to be on a trailer or you get fined.. moving to a farm house soon! :)

The bastards can't find my still and dam sure can't catch up so ufck em.:icon_cheers:

Vanessa and I love going to salvage yards. It's sad looking at some of the vehicles that shouldn't be in there. For me, going to a salvage yard is like most people going to an animal shelter. I want to take them all home with me.

What really sucks is when you see Rangers that have perfectly good suspension lifts on them.

Same here, unless you live outside the city limits and at that point no one cares. Most people where I live rather than trading in or selling their old vehicle when they buy a new one, they just park their old car in their yard but god forbid you ask them about parting it out since they no longer use it, nope they'd rather watch it rust to pieces than let someone buy parts off it or the whole vehicle for that matter.
