my '86 BII doesn't like to idle properly till it gets somewhat warm....it will start, idle high (around 2500 rpm), then drop down to 1,000 rpm, and then die....i have to pay attention to it until it gets somewhat warmed up, then it will idle up and then almost die, then idle itself up, then back down and almost die.....it will do that until it completely gets warmed up.....

i have replaced the following: plugs, wires, distributor cap, & dristributor rotor...

any ideas?

I am going to replace the fuel filter tonight and see if that helps.....

will i can tell you for sure it aint the fuel filter. sounds like maybe the idle air control valve might be at fault or it could also be the coolant temp sensor. but try pulling codes to be sure which sensor it is befor you start replacing them.

i changed the fuel filter, and it idles great now.......

the fuel filter i replaced was the factory one from 1986!
