I know I'm killing this section with "Has anyone tried..." posts but I'm really trying to get the right setup within my budget while doing a clean install that's not a theft magnet.
My goal is a pretty clean sound with enough power to sound really good inside the truck.
I don't care, and rather not have it be too loud outside.
I have Pioneer Premier speakers in all 4 corners but the bass is lacking below the punchy level.
I'm looking for something compact that will add a little to the punch and bring in the low end.
I like the idea of the Kenwood KSC-WD250T amplified 10 inch sub.
Does anyone have this sub? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12065_Kenwood+KSC-WD250T+Truck+Style.html
Is it junk?

I got a kicker shallow mount for 90 bucks at amazon.com I made the box myself and let me tell you this thing pounds. Dont know about the kenwood though

kenwood's power ratings arent acurrate.

i wouldnt use anything other than there head units.

I've always liked high powered Kenwood head units and Alpine type R speakers.
I ran that setup in a 2000 Galant for 9 years and it still sounded great when I got rid of the car.
The head unit seemed to be pushing everything it claimed to have.
I have no experience with Kenwood speakers or external Amps though...

As for sub amps I like Rockford Fosgate.
I've never had a subwoofer it's self I was truly satisfied with but then, it's been over 10 years since I've owned a subwoofer.

i have kenwood speakers and they sound very nice as well as they were on the budget end of things. i dont know of that particular item but try to find some reviews on it.

I wouldnt worry too much about power ratings. No ones devices are very accurate on that because power is voltage time current. everyone car will make it different and i dont even think it would be the exact same between two identical amps.

Well, yes and no...
Those aren't the same price when you consider the Kenwood has the amp built in.
BUT, that scares me because that price seems too good to be true for all that and you know what they say...

My other concerns are how would that amp cool?
Would the amp's heat interfere with the sub cooling?
Both issues are bad news if the manufacturer didn't address them.

You're probably right that those Kicker speakers would be better quality but even if you take price out of the picture I like the space savings and convenience of the Kenwood's amp being built in.

Man, this is the first time I've done this with a truck and it's twice as hard as a car...at least the bass part is.

powered subwoofers are meant to work the way they are put together... i'm pretty sure you're going to be just fine buying one of them and putting it in your truck...

if it over heats and you follow all directions, then you return it and get a new one or a refund.

i think it'd be a wise investment for someone who is looking for some mid bass fill, maybe some low'ish fill, and for someone who doesn't need the noise of a 15" in their standard cab.

try looking at a few other powered subs and see what you like...

whoops, didnt read it was a powered unit.

for a little more money, id get the infinity basslink. you will be happy with that.

just ask jayfx4, but dont mention his speakers lol

I was looking at the basslink and I like the quality of all the Infinity Speakers but it looks really deep to fit behind a seat on a standard cab.

kenwoods stuff doesnt get nice till you get in to there high end stuff. for the money i would get the base link if that the path your looking to go.
