You're truck already has a 4R55E transmission. The 2.3L and 3.0L pickups used the weaker 4R44E of that year.

Any 4r55e from a 4.0L will fit your truck. Any 5r55e from a 4.0L will fit your truck bit will require the PCM to be swapped. OHV or SOHC doesn't matter, they both use the same transmission bell housing bolt pattern.

i thought there was a 1 one hole difference between the 2 bell housings... @ 2 o'clock if you look at it from behind?

Yes, but the rest line up and you can leave that bolt out.

The PCM under the dash by the emergency fuel shut off? And will the new PCM effect my motor running. It's a 96 4.0 so I'm wondering what years of the 5r55e will work with my truck
