Do you think i should buy this 03 f-150 lariat 5.4 v8 4wd =)

Really if you have a good ride I would wait until things even out.

This is good advice.

Everything is WAY too expensive right now. Prices on vehicles have started to trickle downwards, thankfully, but not far enough quite yet.. Especially If you already have a vehicle that functions and meets your needs.

Lots of folks believe we should be seeing a meaningful change to the market relatively soon due to ever climbing interest rates and things finally starting to catch back up post-covid.. and while I'm the farthest thing from being any sort of finance/economics wizard.. I don't see any reason not to believe them.

That being said... the crazy market has made your current vehicle more valuble... so... if you can sell whatever your driving now for "too much" then it kinda offsets having to pay "too much" for the next one 🤷‍♀️

The thing to do, if someone could make it work, would be to sell off a vehicle now for the inflated price and then buy back whenever things come crashing down.

It's red.... maybe that's the main thing going for it.
It just depends what you want, I don't want 4 doors (unless it's in extended cab) because the bed is really small, it's more like a sedan with a carry area.
There were a lot of negative comments about it. I'd take the advice I get here.
Which I did, and I love the '97, I think they are ruggeder and have some things I really like and very little to not like. But to find a clean one 'low' miles you have to look.
As to the F series I don't know the gens but just listen to the guys here even though it's Rangers they know F series I'm sure.
Like they told me, what do you want to do with the vehicle. That should drive your choices.
You can't really take a used price then say it's x% of price new because the worth of the dollars is vastly different. If you do want to do that kind of comparison you have to convert the dollars to today's dollars. And that still doesn't tell you that much anyway unless you're trying to construct benchmarks.
I think the market is still pretty crappy. Look at the Carfax, how many owners, etc. Drive a bunch of them. Keep watching every day.
If you're considering off-road, I like the smaller Ranger, more maneuverable, lighter, etc and plenty big inside for me.
You might end up paying a little more than you want in the market today but here's the thing, once you find the one you want, if it's clean, rust free, everything or most things work, has no discernible major problems, drives nice, interior isn't all torn up, etc etc, then, even -if- you feel, that's a bit high price, but it's the 'one' then get it. But it can be a long search.

You thought wrong but my first ranger my 94 4.0 v6 had 2wd.

I'm not saying this to be offensive even though it may come across that way. Although you have posted a lot in the last few days/weeks it hasn't been much meaningful content about what you currently own. When you combine your content with all the other content we've read ont he forum and other places, can't expect us to remember everything you've said about your truck. If you want us to remember what it is, try adding it to your signature like you did the Ranger.

Generally I'd agree with everyone else. Hard pass. My reasons might be a little petty and I don;t expect you to agree with them.

1) It's ugly - IMO that is the ugliest body style of Ford F-150 TRUCK built
2) Lug patern - That 7 year period is the only year range with the 5x135mm lug pattern. All up to that point had 5x5.5" and all after had 6x135mm, which are much more common patterns.
3) Price - All trucks are too expensive right now. In the current market, with a little spit and polish I could probably sell my F-250 for as much or more than my dad paid for it 18 years ago. IIRC that was around 17k then, and it's got an extra 100k+ miles of wear and tear now.

Now if people are right and the market is dropping I would consider what @Blmpkn said. If your 93 4x4 is in good condition, that body style is in high demand, especially as a V8 (351?) 4x4. I was looking for one myself before getting the F-250. You have the Ranger and from what I've read, you probably don't NEED fullsize for a little while. Sell the 93 while the market is high, then sit on the money and wait for the market to drop.

Honestly I'd do that with the F-250, but since it was gifted to me I'd feel bad about fliping it this soon. Also once I get into my other projects, it will be handy having such a capable truck that isn't a project. I'd most likely buy parts trucks with the proceeds and the parts truck I need is probably going to keep climbing in value, that would be 67-72 F-series. Finally I've toyed with the idea of getting a camper, possibly a small toy hauler, and this would be a great candidate for pulling it. I'm torn between getting a camper sized appropriately for a V8 swapped Ranger and the F-100, or sized for the F-250 that could carry an ATV or motorcycle. Then there's a part of me saying forget the camper, but I hate tent camping in warmer weather (can't sleep in it), there aren't hotels in the places I like to visit, and B&B or vacation rentals are too expensive.

Well if your 93 is a 4wd with a 351 id never let it go, not for a 97-03 and surely not a dakota.

I might be looking for an F series, how much are you asking?

My 1993 ford f-150 4wd xlt super cab short bed 4 speed automatic has the 5.8 v8 351 cubic inch windsor engine :)

Many would argue that you already have the best F-150 ever made. I'd be mighty inclined to agree with those people.

For others, the only thing that would make it better is a manual transmission and transfer case.
