Do you own anything cool?

I also have a Scottish Skean Dhu, which is the traditional Scott's last resort knife, usually tucked in a sock or strapped to his thigh when he wears his kilt. I wear wear it when I wear my kilt.

I have to ask, do you actually wear your family or clan tartan, or just any old plaid?

I wear both a plain black from utilikilts.com and my Conlee clan tartan, which is a black field with a dark blue and yellow plaid.

I have a tractor that my great grandfather bought new. 1953 Allis-Chalmers WD-45. He had a small armada of A-C's, at some point this one was overhauled with higher compression aluminum pistons and was the one to beat. It has aftermarket Char-Lynn power steering too. My grandfather got it when he started farming with it, he stayed with A-C until he sold out in the 80's. The toolbox lid is still dented in from my mom and her siblings riding on it.

Grandpa had someone change the headgasket and they forgot to hookup the oil line on the head and it bled to death, locked up two mains. It took a complete overhaul when dad got it to get it going again.

It is kinda cool to get it out in a field and think I am sitting in the same seat on the same tractor doing the same thing that they did.

This is probably cheesy to some people. But my Grandfather (my Dad's father) was a Pharmacist. I have a collection of things he had made for his store like key chains, wooden nickels, etc. But one very special thing to me is a pill bottle I found in a sewing machine given to my wife by my Great Grandmother (my Mom's Grandma) from my Grandpa's store. It was filled prior to my parents being boyfriend/girlfriend. I've always thought it was kinda cool even though it means nothing to anyone but my family.

i have a machete my great grandfather used in world war II, my grandpa gave it to me when he was goin through great g-pas stuff....thats about it lol

unfortunatly im a person that doesnt believe tools should sit around if they still have a use. so last year i was cutting brush to sell and the first five or six inches of blade snapped off. i searched for 3 hours in the woods but i found that damn blade tip and still have both pieces. i plan on brazing the pieces back together and making it look like it never happened........then im never gonna use it again haha

oh and i got my great uncles 88 F-150 when he passed on last year. i never ever plan on getting rid of it. the only thing ive done to it is tint the side windows cause those damn 150s are so bright on a sunny day i couldnt see a damn thing.

You're correct in thinking tools should be used, and it was broken by using it. No shame there. If it was old enough to snap, it should be able to retire with dignity!

exactly, but it was still a horrible feeling when it broke knowing that my great g-pa used it defending this country and i broke it tryin to make some extra cash. after i realized i could fix it i felt a lot better though.

Well, hey, it's a tool being used and there's no shame in using it for it's purpose, even if it was making money. But hey, use the money you make off the work you did to buy a new current issue machete. I love the new one. Black matte blade and composite grips. Works like a charm!

after my grandfather passed last march we were going through his stuff and i found these two bayonets. the markings on them are identical but i have no idea where they're from. if anyone has a clue i'd like to know. i also have a shotgun that my great great grandfather used in ww1. he passed it down to my dads uncle. then my dad got it from his uncle and now its mine. ill post pics of it tomorrow

No idea what they're to, but there in fantastic shape for their age. Start researching period specific guns and see if any gun shops around know what they go to.

I have one 1930's-1940's Volkswagen/Audi Auto Union 14x5" wheel. This fit the original Audi Auto Union(not Audi, but the actual Audi Auto Union, made up of the 4 companies represented by the 4 rings; Wanderer, Horch, Audi, and DKW) and Volkswagen cars like the Karmann Ghia, 1700, and Beetle. I have no idea what it's worth, probably not much, but it's still a nice piece of history.

sorry, but i gotta 1-up ya here, in the garage at my brother's place (where i used to live) is a complete 1936 ford sedan that my great grandfather bought for $350? in 1936 and has been in the family since, and in the glove box is a "permit to drive" i believe it's called, for my grandfather to drive it, from the 60's or 70's... i forget exactly... and i have a feeling we even have the original bill of sale somewhere

I have one of those in my garage.....we are brothers!!! lol I will take a picture of it today. I tossed the case it came in..it was so rotted. It belonged to one of my moms reatives who fought in one of the wars...WWI or WWII...can't remember which one.

I've got 3 of the patches my grandfathers wore on their flying suits over china and japan, one leather american flag(48 stars), on leather with the chinese ideographs and the imperial chinese flag(i believe) and a silk version of that.

Also we have a collection of pictures from all 9 plane crashes my grandfather was in... every continent except antartica.

also a perfect condition winchester model 12 from the year my dad was born. still gets used too

I have an original EGW Knife, never been sharpened. It is one of the original fighting knives from WW2, somehow this one never got used for anything. Got the original sheath, too. It's in incredible shape, I restored the metal a few years back, put about 40 hours into it.
