Do they mount in the same spots as the d28 and 7.5 i want to do a swap and do I have to take the transfercase too? Any input would be great.

Yes, the D35 and a Ranger 8.8" mounts the same.

You will have to shorten the front driveshaft 1", and you may need to swap the rear flange on your rear driveshaft to match the 8.8" flange (or possibly replace the driveshaft itself if you have the tiny 1210 u-joints).

So if I just take the driveshaft out of the same truck I get the 8.8 it should be fine.

When i did this swap, i had to use a drag link from a explorer because my stock one wouldn't allow for the correct toe. Maybe my old one was just bent? either way its a straight foward swap.

Depends on a combination of factors... It will need to be from the same body style as your truck to fit, but the transmission will affect it too.

What trans do you have in yours?

D35 steering linkage is wider than the D28, as the axle itself is wider.

Its a FM145

Later driveshaft won't fit.

You'll have to swap the flange or get a custom shaft made for your truck by a driveline shop.

As a last resort, you could redrill & tap the 8.8 axle flange with the smaller bolt pattern and then use your existing shaft (though I don't recommend it if you have the small u-joints).
