Was ordering the 4.56 gears for my truck last night and the guy told me that since i have 3.27 gears stock i will need a larger carrier for just the dana 35. Is this true? Kinda sucked but needing some info from others who have went through this

My truck is a 94' Mazda, 4.0, manual with 3.27 gears stock on front and rear

as long as you have a dana 35 and order gears for a dana 35 you should be fine. unless there is something idk which there is a good chance. but it should be fine

It is the dana 35 axle. I've ordered all my gears for me and my friends my a guy in michigan who has always been very smart in this area but i've never heard or read anything about this before. He was the first to ever mention this. He said the 3.27 and lower has a different carrier than gears larger than 3.27....

Just want to make sure if this is true or not before ordering a new carrier

No you do not. There is no carrier break in the Dana 35 axles.

Let me rephase that for you: There is no carrier break in Ranger front diff Dana35 axles.

I can assure you the same is not true of Jeep Dana 35 rear axles.

But other than that your answer is correct in context for rangers.

So what you are saying is that i don't need a new carrier for the dana 35 front axle on my ranger? I'm ready to order all the parts to make this install and needing to know if i need anything other than gears and master install kit ( bearings )??? Or do i really need the different carrier?

Thanks,
B Man

You dont need a different carrier is what he is saying. Most 4x4 mechanics Im finding around my area are jeep guys and comes with alot of confusion. I will tell them something and explain my source, (being our tech pages) and they will spend 20 or 30 minutes looking through manuals to verify what I am saying before they listen. Drop in the 4.56's and you will be fine. If your still doubting do a search of the site on other trucks with the same gear ratio and see what they did to install.

Thanks, I heard what i needed to! I'm ordering the gears Monady to finish building my truck.
