well guys i just bought a 88 ranger with a 2.9 in it and it only has 130000 miles on it and runs great..only question i have is that when i changed the oil today and the filter i put in 5qts and the dipsick read a quart low? dosent leak or burn any oil..its an offroad truck so im thinking the guy replaced the dipstick with the wrong one and maybe it is too short as i have read about on here..i have the part number on the dipstick..can you guys tell me if it is right or not? P/N: E67E-6750-AC? thanks.

My 88 4wd says E87E-6750-AA

One of my 2wd 87s says E67E-6750-AC

Its raining or I would check the other 87 and my BIIs. I will check them for you tomorrow or the next day.

Gotta ask...... Did you fill the filter with oil before installing it?

no i didnt fill the filter? never heard of that..its supposed to hold 5qts total with a filter change...i got another dipstick from the junkyard out of a 2.9 and it was a bit longer and it reads fine now? i think that was the problem
