hello to all. New member. I have a 1996 ranger 2.3 4x4 long bed. I bought this truck wrecked with only 64426 miles on it. I'd be the 3rd owner it needs a fender apron d/s and a windshield I managed to find the willow green metallic front clip. Suspension is tweaked pass radius arm and bracket. My friend has a 1995 ford f350 crew cab 8ft 4x4 with a 7.5 460 auto with a blown motor and ford cancer common on them. Question is do I rid of the low mileage ranger which I haven't seen them up here in pa (it was a southern jersey truck rust free)? Or keep her. Just wanting some input before I make a fatal mistake. Thank you all.:dunno:

I don't see why you would want to get rid of it.. And what purpose you would be getting rid of it for. I would spend the money to get it all fixed up and in the end you'll have a nice ranger to drive everyday.

Keep it. The 2.3L is an old reliable engine, slow, but it keeps on chugging. And with it being a 4x4, that makes it a bit of a gem as there isn't too many 2.3L 4x4's.

I'd like edit; to buy it if you decide to scrap it. Of course that depends on where you are. But personally I would try to fix it. And what did you think the advise you'd get on a Ranger forum would be?

You rich or somethin? How can you afford to feed that F350...it'll eat what you spent on the Ranger, if anything, in a month or so.

id take a 2.3 ranger hands down over a 460 1 ton, id have to have a serious need to be able to feed a beast like that, a 2.3 would be a little underpowered for me at times, but i could certianally live with one most of the time. (and if i needed something bigger, id borrow dads super-duty F250)

lol I know what would I expect on here. I declined the deal, keeping the ranger. The ole Mazda b3000 has 259000 and the salt is starting to take a toll on her. I got this ranger to replace the it. Can't get rid of the Mazda though, my daughter (Shelby of 4yrs) has been everywhere with me in that truck. She likes all the different colors lol.

You have a good deal going. Run the B 3000 a tad longer and replace the bent stuff on the Ranger. :D

I definitely will. I only paid 600 and paid 200 for all the body parts. Its a wee bit chilly to go the yard and drill out an apron but one day when I fig out how to post pics I will show all progress. Kicker was the bags did not deploy. The sensor was tweaked slightly due to the rad support on being being bent down 3 inches.

I was lucky. It was a mild winter in '12 . I put up a 12x20 tent garage , my brother gave me. . I floored it with odd pieces of plywood and threw down old carpet remnants to lie on. I spent from New Years to the middle of April rescuing the Rat. I blocked it up 2 feet and fixed all sorts of bad stuff. :D

well I also got other projects scattered. An old 66 f-100 4x4 and a 66 mustang that ranger and a 65 f100 2wd then my b3000 and my Saturn ion work car. Lol
