Completed a number of suspension part replacements a couple months ago. Leaf spring shackles were completely rusted out, so i replaced them. Took the opportunity to disassemble the leaf springs completely, treat rust, paint, replace plastic insulators, and put in some cheapy energy suspension polyurethane bushings off rockauto. Now a bit has passed and the driver side is squeaking over bumps. Are they all just going to do that eventually and I am doomed? or do you think i screwed part of it up, tightened something too much, over or under greased something, etc?

For what it is worth, if youre thinking of doing this on the rear end, or something similar, go ahead and pull the bed. Yes, extra work, but I really kick myself for not doing it when I was able to, a bit of a PITA it was.

In my experience they do tend to squeak depending on where they are and what they're doing. I doubt you did anything wrong. Might not be best practices but a little silicone spray might quiet them down for a while if they're driving you crazy.

My poly pivot bushings are making noise, if I had to do it over again I would go back with rubber.

I mean... the originals were 35 years old and were quieter.

I agree with the silicone grease suggestion. Regular grease tends to make polyurethane bushings very noisy and squeaky. It solved suspension squeak issues for me in the past.

I used the supplied grease when I assembled mine 5 years ago... I kinda don't think they liked being submerged. :dntknw:

One word...

Yes

Using the proper lube helps.

I do consider poly bushings to be very similar to sunroofs...

the best part about them.....they still squeak even after they split and fall apart....with added clank noises.
